Mass Music Radio | South Shore's Surfliner Debut Their Newest Single, "Above Water"
By: Shamus Hill
”If you've ever taken a drive down to Marshfield on a hot summer day, then you'll know what I mean when I describe the beautiful, hazy atmosphere that seemingly takes hold of the entire landscape throughout this specific time of the year. Hailing from the South Shore of Massachusetts are Tyler Wyatt and Sam Worley, who together make up the adventurous duo - Surfliner. They just recently released a new single titled "Above Water" which perfectly encapsulates the sentiment that I described above…”
Northern Transmissions | Surfliner Debuts Video For “Sinking Heart”
Surfliner has released a new video for “Sinking Heart.” The song is off the trio’s forthcoming release Psychic Blues, out on North By South Records. Elias Azar directed the video, which depicts an average mundane day in the lifestyle of a Covid-era young adult living in the city. Psychic Blues is the follow-up to the band’s 2019 release Kiska. The band manages to definitely turn a bleak time into a cheerful one, with “Sinking Heart.”
Look At My Records! | Premiere: Fireside EP by Surfliner (12/17/2020)
We’re excited to premiere Fireside, the new EP from New York City surf rockers Surfliner. The four-song collection arrives on the heels of the first snowstorm of the season here in the northeast, and its mellow sounds will have you daydreaming about some slightly warmer summer days. It definitely helps that the first track, “I Think Of You,” revels in blissful nostalgia, as in great detail, the lyrics pine for a lost love. The middle two songs…
The Luna Collective | Q&A: Surfliner 'Psychic Blues' (10/24/2020)
A SIGNATURE SOUND WITH ENDLESS ELEMENTS - Surfliner seems to have no problem keeping their sound fresh with each project. Their sophomore LP, Psychic Blues, explores honesty and vulnerability through a more matured sound, with enough of a gritty edge to keep you hooked. Written, recorded, mixed and mastered entirely by the duo Tyler Wyatt and Sam Worley themselves, Psychic Blues was created over a two-year span highlighting their thoughts and lives over a duration of change and evolution, concluding with quarantine. Showcasing an array of sounds the duo adores, the LP serves as a testament to their talents with each soundscape the project explores.
A time capsule of sorts, Psychic Blues provides the listener with a soundtrack fit for a variety of moods, from the more edgy “Sinking Heart" to the sweet sounds of “Swell”. Listen to Psychic Blues and read below to learn more about the making of the LP, their inspirations and more.
Interview with VENTS Magazine (4/13/20)
by RJ Frometa
Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Pretty good, apart from the pandemic and everything we’ve been holding up pretty well. We’re both currently quarantined, have been and will continue to be, but we’re keeping our sanity. Well wishes to the readers!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Swell”?
For sure. “Swell” was a song that sort of popped up out of nowhere during a particularly frustrating recording session…
Surfliner might just take you away with “I Don’t Mind” from the “Kiska” album (1/25/2019)
by Robb Donker
I Don't Mind by Surfliner flows and then hustles effortlessly. Tight but oh so loose it rides on shifting drums, soulful jazz filtered tones, spacious guitar, dreamy piano, groovy bass lines and chill, cool vocals. Surfliner is the recording project of multi-instrumentalist Tyler Wyatt and rhythm guitarist Sam Worley and did I mention that they are in high school? Hailing from the beach town of Duxbury, Massachusetts they write, record, produce right out of Sam's family barn. The same barn where the DIY-ers foster their music and local scene by hosting barn shows and inviting up and coming student artist to open up for them. It sounds so idyllic. So perfect.
